Homem de Meia Noite, Olinda e Recife
...is about the "Homem da Meia noite"(midnight man)

A beautiful giant doll named "Homem da Meia Noite", Established in 1931, in the city of Olinda, PE, to the people of Olinda, the Carnival starts at midnight, when the keys of the city are given to the "Midnight man".
And after that, until the sunshine, the giant parade goes around the old city of Olinda, up and down of the hill, doing the same following passage accurately with emotion and fantasy, in an unforgettable night!!!
The parade of the Man of the Midnight is one of the few traditions kept in the Carnival of Olinda, is a mark of the authenticity of this folia, it leaves to the streets the zero hour Saturday, opening the carnival of the city
Followed by one orchestra of frevo dragging a multitude for historical olindenses and tourists.

From that house start everything

The Club has proper headquarters, in the Street of the Bonsucesso, and since its foundation it keeps the tradition to parade the same following passage accurately, waited, with anxiety, for the people

Here one of the last pictures from...
Tacio Botelho, that led the club in last the 22 years, passed away last day 22 of November, 2001.
He never forgets to tell me that the Midnight man is not only one giant doll, but THE CALUNGA!*
Great and missing person in our Carnival...
*calunga (as well as the dolls of maracatus)
