CARNIVAL of OLINDA -a virtual exhibit

The carnival in Olinda is a popular street party. Unlike Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, in Olinda you don't pay for the best places. All the party is in the streets. No "bleachers" nor "cord of rope". There are hundreds of little musical groups (sometimes one person), in various categories.

Recife and Olinda are beautiful old and colorful towns. Many of the houses were built in the early days of colonization, and are now painted in different and joyful colors. Both towns have the influence of the African and European cultures with interesting food, music, architecture and religion. A walk in the city centre of Recife is a journey back in time. The people are happy and vibrant, and have produced what is known as one of the best carnivals of Brazil.  There are also beautiful white sandy beaches with clear waters and coconut palm trees.

The frevo, rhythm that rocks the party, has versions to all preferences. Cord and metals orchestras execute the lowest and rhythmic music. In the morning, this sound brings the older people and the children.
